If buying chicks getting beak-treated ones to prevent injury

Recommend against purchase from auctions, private listings, swaps, newspapers etc. as it is not possible to determine vaccination status, behavior, and disease status

American Board of Veterinary Practitioners Avian Specialists (may specialize more in exotic pet birds, but still a good resource)
